Machen Mountain Race

The Machen Mountain Race held annually on August Bank Holiday Monday is a gruelling 10K race with more than 300 metres of climb over challenging terrain. The race starts and finishes at Machen Welfare Recreation Ground in Machen South Wales, UK.

You can click here to see a Multimap map which shows the approximate location of the start. You will need to "zoom in" on the map so that you see a close up map of the location of the start.

The 2008 race commenced at 3pm on 25th August and results of the race can be seen here. This was the largest field we have had so far for the event with 156 runners on the day. Despite the underfoot conditions we had a great day and it was good to catch up with old friends and make new ones!!

One of our regular runners in the race (Dominic Shields) kindly recorded the race data in 2007 and has made it available at this link.

If you have any comments about the 2008 event or for more information on the 2009 race please contact the Race Organiser - Greg Dainty.

An entrance form is available here and you will also be able to enter via Runners World as usual.

Look forward to seeing you in 2009.
