A big thank you to all who took part in the Machen Run in 2004. This was our biggest turnout to date (62 runners in all) and it was great to see old faces and new faces alike. We hope that you all enjoyed the race and will be putting it into your diary for next year.
Perhaps "enjoyed" but I am sure you know what I mean. As usual the run lived up to its reputation. It is a hard course but it is a good course with some great views (although we don't have much time to enjoy them...).
This years event was won by Dimitri Vorres after a good tussle with Julian Baker who had to pull up with an injury but raced home to give us a grandstand finish.....
A big thanks also to all who mucked in with the organisation and operation of the race - especially to the marshals some of whom had traveled from as far away as Poland!!! Thanks also to Ray "The Coal" Davies for his generous donation towards prizes and T-Shirts (there are still a few left if you didn't get one on the day).
We are particularly pleased with the birth of the children's race which hopefully we can develop into an annual fixture alongside the main event. Thanks to those who donated offspring to make this event a success as well. Thanks also to Caerphilly Sports Development for organising and operating the junior race.
You can see the results on this website and there will soon be results from some previous years as well....
If you have any comments for us about the race and how we can move it forward we would be glad to hear them - please email me in the first instance.
This years quote of the event from an experienced competitor:
"...that is a hard 10K......one of the hardest I've done...I did one yesterday that was tough but this one was harder!!!!........"
